The month of October is Pregnancy, Infant and Child Loss Awareness Month. Throughout the month, we will be sharing stories from families about their loss and honoring their journey and their angel babies. Moms and dads will both be sharing, as we believe their individual experiences need to both be recognized. Some of these stories are from a very recent loss, while others are from many, many years ago. But all of them believe in the importance of bringing awareness and opening up a conversation around this, and for that we are so grateful. Whether or not you’ve experienced the indescribable grief of losing of a child, our hope is that you are able to connect with these stories. If you’ve endured this pain yourself, we want to remind you that you are not alone. If you have walked alongside someone else, we want to better equip you to know how to support your loved ones. Everyone’s story is different. We ask that you please be sensitive to each individual journey.
This month’s featured card is our Rainbow Baby greeting card. A rainbow baby is a child born after miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss. While we recognize that not every mom that has endured such a difficult and tragic loss wants or gets a rainbow baby, we wanted to find a way to celebrate these little ones while recognizing the mixed emotions a lot of these moms have.
One of our moms that will be sharing expressed this in a way that was so touching and powerful. She shares, “I felt so empty to have lost something so dear and so full to have children and a husband I loved so much. The contrast was just huge. What I could see is that ALL of this emotion came from the same core of love. Without my love for my husband and my desire to continue to grow our family, the grief would never have existed. The grief WAS love in the form of sadness.”
During the month of October, 10% of all proceeds from the sale of this card will go to an organization called Forever Footprints.
Please take a moment to share or recognize a beautiful mama today. And check back all month long to read these family’s stories and join us in honoring their beautiful angels.
